NATIONAL YOUTH GATHERING

nullJuly 16-20, 2016

On July 14, 2016 the LYF left by Amtrak train for the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Kate and Todd  went as chaperones for the following high school students from Trinity:

  • Rachel
  • Luke
  • Jacob
  • Jenna

The theme for the convention is:  “In Christ Alone: We Stand.”  Sub-themes for the five day event include:

Humility

Scripture focus: Philippians 2:5-11

God humiliates Himself for us in Christ. Christ’s humility is our humility. This isn’t just a virtue but our reality. There is joy in living out humility in Christ alone.

Identity

Scripture focus: Philippians 2:5-11, 1:21-26, 3:8-12

We live as both sinner and saint. This “identity crisis” is resolved in the blood of Christ. In Christ we are forgiven and given vocations in which to live out our identity in service to God and others. There is joy in our identity in Christ alone.

Community

Scripture focus: Philippians 2:5-11, 1:3-7

There is true community in Christ alone. Community is diverse and inclusive spanning across space and time. Community is a place to receive and practice grace. There is joy in the community created in Christ alone.
